CAPE TO CAPE MTB SUPPORTING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY!

The Cape to Cape MTB are proud to announce their support for the next generation of MTB’ers through their donation of equipment to Margaret River Primary School.

There is less than one week to go before this year’s Cape to Cape MTB, Australia’s biggest multi-stage endurance race, set in the Margaret River region of the South West of WA, and we are calling on you for support!

With Margaret River the heart and soul of the event, it’s important for us to engage and give back to the local MTB community and where better to start for 2017 than our Stage 4 Finish Line – Margaret River Primary School.

Margaret River Primary School children currently participate in popular MTB programs and camps offered to students in years’ 4, 5 and 6 as part of their current curriculum. Utilising a number of trails across the South West Capes region, students can take part in 6-week programs or ongoing MTB sessions looking no further than their back yard!

A wonderful initiative to get the kids out of the classroom, their heart rates up and experiencing the challenge of MTB, these programs will hugely benefit from the donation of suitable equipment such as gloves, helmets, Camelbak hydration packs and mountain bikes.

Cape to Cape MTB are proudly donating two new mountain bikes and 10 child-sized helmets to the Primary School to help facilitate these programs into the future. We are also supported by our sponsors Shimano and Camelback who have put together packages of suitable MTB items for the school including tools, pumps, pedals, hydration packs and water bottles.

These items will be presented to Margaret River Primary School at a special assembly tomorrow, Tuesday 17th October by two of Cape to Cape MTB’s elite riders, Kyle Ward and last year’s overall Women’s Champion, Samara Sheppard. Hailing from New Zealand, Samara is currently ranked 34 in the world and keen to go back to back and take on the largest female elite field we have seen.

On being notified of these donations, Margaret River Primary School Principle, Aaron Thomas said “We are really excited by the generous donations that will make sure that more students at our school have the opportunity to get involved in this amazing sport. Our school prides itself on making the most of the natural environment around us and our students spend a lot of time taking care of it. Mountain biking is an important part of our school community and we are pleased to be able to work with the Cape to Cape MTB.”

HOW YOU CAN HELP!

We’re calling on you, our loyal MTB community, to help us collect further donations of childsize MTB equipment for the Primary School. Without our help there are minimal resources and participation relies on student ownership of the essentials.

We will have a clearly labelled drop-off point for all donations located at the Finish Line of the event as per below;

Sunday 22nd October
Stage 4 Finish Line
Margaret River Primary School – 91 Forrest Road, Margaret River

Let’s rally together and help provide Margaret River Primary School with the resources to keep on riding!
