Every year the Cape to Cape MTB attracts a formidable field of elite riders from across Australia and the world.
When you attend the Cape to Cape MTB, our wonderful Weekend Warriors ride in the same field as Olympians, World and National Champions!
2016 saw the Cape to Cape MTB attract one of the strongest elite rider fields the event has ever seen in its nine year history with current and former national champions, former world champions as well as developing Pro Tour riders in attendance.
With close to 70 registered elite riders, as well as a highly talented local rider field, the 2016 Cape to Cape MTB provided a viewing and racing spectacle not to be missed with riders being separated by mere seconds at the conclusion of the challenging Stage 1. The battles continued over the following three days with the days results not being set in stone until the fat lady sung. What does this mean for 2017?
2017 sees a change in event dynamics to celebrate 10 Years of the event and with this change sees the inclusion of extra kilometres of single track to offer maximum stoke factor for all riders, including our elites. Stepping away from the traditional point-to-point format could see a major shift in race dynamics at the front end of our field, a promising sign for 2017, allowing for a true battle royal between our elite women and elite men.
It is hard to predict what may happen at the front of a bike race however it is a definite that no energy will be left out there come the end of the 2017 Cape to Cape MTB on Sunday 22nd October. Will we see a women’s race come down to the line again? Will we see a men’s race that also comes down to the wire? Or will we see fields torn apart by riders who love to put themselves deep in to the hurt box?
What is for sure is that nobody will want to miss the 2017 Cape to Cape MTB and we hope to see you all out there!
