2011 spectator points are detailed below. An updated list of spectator points for the 2012 event will be posted shortly.
Access any of the below spectator points by car:
Stage One
Green Hill Road: From Augusta take Bussell Hwy out of town and turn left into Caves Rd. Take the first left into Hill Rd. Follow this road straight through past Diana Rd. You will come to a road block and safety team location. This is a great viewing point as riders descend along a fast track back into the Augusta bush.
Cresswell Road: Take Caves Rd out of Augusta heading toward Hamelin Bay. Approx 2kms from Jewel Cave turnoff is Cresswell Rd on the left. Turn into Cresswell and park near the entry then walk up the track approx 150m to the viewing point. There is a fast section of track through here with a drink stop for riders should they wish.
Stage Two
Boranup Forest – Donovan Rd Intersection: Take the north entry into Boranup Drive off Caves Rd. Drive carefully along this road for about 2km until you come to the intersection with Donovan Rd. The course crosses at this point and is a great area to view the riders.
Leeuwin Estate Winery: Make your way to Leeuwin Estate off Stevens Rd which runs off Redgate Rd. Sit back on the balcony and watch the riders come through the property as you enjoy a coffee and cake or sip on a glass of wine.
Surfers Point at Prevelly: A spectacular finish location. There is plenty of parking at Main Break or at the River Mouth, where the course crosses as riders come down from the nearby sand hill before a sprint up to the finish line.
Stage Three
River Trail: A special section of the course winds in and around the river near the Margaret River town. From about 9.15am riders will enter the River Trail from the west end near the Rivers Trail crossover. Spectators can park in town and then walk along Carters Road and see riders coming along the trail down below on the south side of the road. Another section of trail good for viewing is just between the traffic bridge near town and back toward Carters Road.
Colonial Brewery: The finish for Stage 3 this year will be at Colonial Brewery out on Osmington Road, north of Margaret River. The bigger property will be able to accommodate the large crowds expected and is the perfect venue for everyone to relax after finishing on this special stage.
Stage Four
Metricup Yelverton Road: A good spectator point. Head to Metricup Yelverton Road at the junction with Metricup Road. Siding Road runs back into a number of farming properties. Head carefully up this road to the first property to see the riders come through the farms. Further north up Metricup Yelverton Road at the junction with Yelverton Rd is the halfway point for Stage four.
Creekview Reserve: Head into Creekview Rd off OByrne Rd and up the gravel road to the parking area at the top of the Reserve. Competitors will come from the south-west corner and head out north along Creekview Rd. Be careful when entering the reserve for riders coming up the road.
Note: Spectators are not permitted into Meelup Park in accordance with our event permit conditions.
