Stage Start Lines

Please note the Start Grid System is utilised at each venue and information on how the Start Grid System works can be found by clicking here – Start Grid Explanation.

It is crucial to understand that THE WAVE TIME YOU SELECTED IN REGISTRATION IS YOUR START TIME FOR EACH DAY. That is, if you selected the 9:30am wave during registration, your race will start at 9:30am every day. It is recommended that competitors arrive to the start line venue READY TO RIDE at least 30 minutes before their allocated start time. We recommend that you head to the start chute 10 minutes before your allocated start time to avoid delays.

With the creation of 4 Margaret River Special Stages it has allowed each stage to start and finish in the same location creating ‘Stage Hosts’ rather than stage start and finish lines. Cape to Cape MTB favourites Xanadu Winery and Colonial Brewery again make appearances to host stages as well as some new venues such as Leeuwin Estate and the Margaret River Event Hub. Read below for more information on each venue!

XANADU WINERY – Long-time supporters of the Cape to Cape MTB, Xanadu Winery will play host to Stage 1 of the 2017 edition of the event. Picturesque with their several kilometre long sweeping driveway through multiple vineyards, Xanadu is the perfect location for the start of what is sure to be one for the record books. In the past Xanadu has traditionally played host to the finish of Stage 2 and the start of Stage 3, with the latter being transformed into a neutral roll out through the streets of Margaret River in recent years. Vast expanses of open grass areas allow families the opportunity to play for the day while riders complete the stage, or only a short 5kms back in to Margaret River families can head back to enjoy the sites of the Event Hub. More information on Xanadu Winery can be found here.

LEEUWIN ESTATE – A brand new location for the Cape to Cape MTB, Leeuwin Estate has never hosted a stage of the event in the ten year history even though riders darted through the vineyards towards the end of the former Stage 2. Leeuwin will host the start and finish location for Stage 2 in 2017 providing premium access to the loamy goodness of Boranup! Located a short 10km drive from the centre of Margaret River, Leeuwin is a spectacular place to spend the day amongst vineyards and surrounding wineries. The new location for 2017 provides an exciting opportunity and will keep the fresh feeling of the event going! More information on Leeuwin Estate can be found here.

COLONIAL BREWERY – Colonial Brewing Company is also a regular on the Cape to Cape MTB stop list formally hosting the end of Stage 3 and start of Stage 4. Located a short 10min drive North of Margaret River, Colonial is set in a picturesque farmland setting and will provide a great location for the hosting of Stage 3. An expansive outdoor and indoor dining area is the perfect place to relax for the day, enjoy some tasting paddles and wait for your riders to finish the epic trails of Middle Earth. For extra brownie points, have a cold Colonial Brew waiting for your riders as they cross the finish line! More information on Colonial Brewery can be found here.

MARGARET RIVER STAGE – Located in the heart of Margaret River of town, the Event Hub will play host to Stage 4 of the Cape to Cape MTB. Previous editions of the event have seen riders roll through the lively centre of Margaret River in a controlled roll out but for 2017 the atmosphere will be livelier than ever! Riders will head out from the top of Margaret River Main Street to ride the riveting river trails and finish up an MR Primary School. Stage 4 will round out an epic four days of riding while live performances, food vendors and much more will be held at the event village to offer everyone the opportunity to enjoy the spectacle of thousands of riders gracing the streets of Margaret River.  More information on the MREH can be found here.
