Pairs
Pairs category, where riders will tackle the four day stage race in pairs of two.
Pairs ride in the same cycling jersey, staying no more than two minutes apart throughout the four days of riding. Pairs MTB racing is fast growing in popularity on the global mountain bike scene and has added a whole new dynamic to the sport. It provides riders with the chance to race not against, but with a mate, or family member.
The comradery and Pairs dynamics of working together through your Cape to Cape challenge, whether you are there to win, or just participate, will bring a whole new dimension to your experience.

Pairs Categories
Cape to Cape has different pairs race categories where you ride in Pairs of two riders.
The combined age of the Pair riders determines the race category:
Pairs will be automatically placed in your category based on your gender and calculated combined age as of 31 December 2026, as per AusCycling rules.
The Cape to Cape features the following categories for each gender category (i.e. Men, Women and Mixed Pairs):
Seniors: Combined age of both riders is 30years - 89years
Masters: Combined age of both riders is 90+years
Minimum age is 15 years at 14 October 2026. Please note that participants under the age of 18 are welcome to register and compete in the Cape to Cape, but are required to have a parent guardian sign their event waiver. The waiver is a compulsory part of registration and needs to be approved with parent/guardian signature.
A minimum number of 5 Pairs will be required to enter each category to make it competitive. If this number is not reached all teams currently within the category may be rolled into the lower age category.
Pedal assist or E-bikes are not permitted in 2026 Cape to Cape Pairs Category.

SEEDED RIDERS
Open to professional and experienced mountain bike riders. Seeded riders are given start line priority as part of our Black Dot Wave. If you would like to request a priority seeded entry, please email us hello@capetocapemtb.com
