Cape Kids returns for 2026

9 July 2026

Cape to Cape MTB's Cape Kids event returns Wednesday 14 October 2026 in Margaret River.

Held a day before the official start of the four-day Cape to Cape MTB race, Cape Kids takes place in the heart of Margaret River township.

Designed to provide the local community an opportunity to get involved, and for families and kids of all ages the chance to ride on a closed course similar to Cape to Cape MTB.

Held at the Margaret River playing fields, adjacent to Margaret River HEART, in the centre of town, the family festival includes registration, food trucks, entertainment and an open category prologue where participants and the community will be able to watch some of Australia’s best mountain bikers in action.

The festival starts at 3pm before the kids ride rolls out from 4pm.

Cape Kids is open to kids of all ages with groups riding the specifically curated course including the Margaret River BMX track in groups of under 10, 10-13 and 14+.

All participants in Cape Kids will receive a C2C race plate to display proudly on their bikes and a participant medal.

Cape Kids supports Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (PCHF), the specialist children’s healthcare charity at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).

Event Director Megan Grygorcewicz said, "We introduced Cape Kids as a way to make Cape to Cape MTB more accessible and connect with the wider South West community. We were very pleased with the number of young riders who came out and participated."

"Last year parents who were riding Cape to Cape MTB, brought their kids along to ride on Wednesday, which made it an event for the whole family. Watching those experiences matched our intention for the event, and we hope to see even more this year and for some of the kids taking part to go on to ride Cape to Cape MTB in the future."

"Cape to Cape MTB has its roots in Margaret River and the South West Region and we are proud that Cape Kids further extends that connection to the local community."

Perth Children's Hospital Foundation CEO Carrick Robinson said, "We're very proud to partner with Cape to Cape MTB once again, bringing together an iconic WA event with a cause that supports kids and families right across the State.

"Each year, more than 10,000 children from regional WA travel to PCH for world-class treatment, including many families from the South West.

"Every rider who takes on the challenge and raises funds for the Foundation, will be making a real difference for WA's sick kids, helping provide them with the care, equipment and support they need when it matters most.

"Whether you're taking on the trails or cheering from the sidelines, this iconic event is a fantastic opportunity to see the beautiful South West while also helping to build a healthier, happier future for WA's sick kids."
