SOLO rider

Individuals will be automatically placed in your age category based on your gender and calculated age as of 31 December 2026, as per AusCycling rules. 

The Cape to Cape features the following categories for both Men and Women:

1. Open: Elite category eligible for prize money. Riders must nominate to be entered into the Open category. Those entered in Open categories will not be eligible for Age Category Awards.

2. Juniors: Riders aged 15 years to 18 years

3. Seniors: Riders aged 19 years to 34 years

4. Masters: Riders aged 35 years to 44years

5. Grand Masters: Riders aged 45 years to 54years

6. Great Grand Masters: Riders aged 55 years to 64years

7. Mega Masters: Riders aged 65+years 

Minimum age is 15 years at 14 October 2026. Please note that participants under the age of 18 are welcome to register and compete in the Cape to Cape, but are required to have a parent guardian sign their event waiver. The waiver is a compulsory part of registration and needs to be approved with parent/guardian signature. 

Single Speed - Riders can ride on a Single Speed bike, however will be categorised for amongst all Solo Riders. There will be no GC Awards for Single Speed.

Handcycle - Please contact us at hello@capetocapemtb.com if you are a handcycle rider. We will provide you with further details on the course prior to registering. 

A minimum number of 5 Riders will be required to enter each category to make it competitive. If this number is not reached all Riders currently within the category may be rolled into the lower age category.

Pedal assist or E-bikes are not permitted in 2026 Cape to Cape Solo Category.

SEEDED RIDERS

Open to experienced mountain bike riders. Seeded riders are given start line priority as part of our Black Dot Wave.

Riders who placed in the top 150 of 2024 or 2025 are automatically accepted into the Black Dot Wave via our registration system (please validate during the registration process).

OPEN RIDERS

The Open Category for Cape to Cape is the category eligible for prize money. Riders must have a proven top 15 results in MTB Races to be entered into the Open category. Those entered in Open categories will not be eligible for Age Category Awards.
