Event Summary

Cape to Cape was first held in 2008 to a field of about 100 frothers. A decade later, it now holds the title as Australasia’s longest running and biggest MTB multi-stage endurance race. We had over 1600 riders hit the trails for our 10th year anniversary ride in 2017! The grand plan from year one was to introduce a new major mountain biking event to the magnificent South West of Western Australia, one that engaged the community, showcased the fabulous countryside and something that riders would enjoy and return to year after year. From the outset we saw this event as more “a ride not a race” but even the most social riders can’t help but get caught up in the rivalries that four days of stage racing brings out in friends and strangers alike. Many return to catch up with those they’ve met and ridden with in previous years. Sharing stories and a beer after each days race is as much a part of the experience as time spent in the saddle.

Trails do not require a high level of technical ability and comprehensive trail marking ensure that navigation skills are not required and the only riders we’ve ever lost turned up ‘stuck’ at a local winery soon after. With multiple check ins and water points included, riders are well looked after. Each day’s racing finishes at the event village with local hospitality on offer. Every stage is unique and will be super enjoyable with the final day starting and finishing at Wise Winery.

We’ve worked hard to each year improve the experience and the course from the year before – while always maintaining the friendly, social vibe that has become the trademark of the Cape to Cape.

How We Roll

Good Mates

Good Mates

When it comes to Stage Races you’d be mad not to bring a friend or two. Four days in the saddle will give you loads of time to point out what’s lacking in their riding technique and general personality. And it’s always handy to have someone to pull you up the hills on day three.

Fun Trails

Fun Trails

It’s a four day event but don’t let that put you off. This is not a slog-fest or the death defying rock gardens of the 90’s. We’ve scouted the funnest trails we could find, with loads of variety each day and achievable distances (37km min, 72km max). The perfect balance of enjoyable time on the bike and enjoyable time sipping beer.

Cold Beers

Cold Beers

Speaking of beer, we’re all for it. Very few things work up a thirst like a multi-stage MTB race. Which is why you’ll find we position our bar so close to the daily finish line. Cheers!
